Have a hankering for the taste of Buffalo wings but either don’t have all the ingredients or want all the calories? A delicious alternative to wings are Buffalo chickpeas!
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp. butter (or vegan alternative butter)
- 1/4 cup hot sauce (your favorite)
- 1- 15 oz. can chickpeas/garbanzo beans
Steps
- Prepare to make the chickpeas. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper or waxed paper.
- Open can of chickpeas, drain and rinse. Pat chickpeas with a paper towel to dry.
- Spread chickpeas across the baking sheet (avoid piling them on top of each other--your baking sheet should be evenly covered).
- Whisk together the Buffalo sauce ingredients. Melt the butter either in a saucepan over low heat on the stove or in the microwave for about 15 to 30 seconds (depending upon your microwave strength).
- Pour butter into a small bowl and add hot sauce. Whisk well.
- Pour sauce over chickpeas. Pour slowly in order to reach each chickpea. Once you’ve hit all the tops, stir the chickpeas and then re-spread onto baking sheet.
- Add more sauce until all chickpeas are sufficiently covered.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
Tips
- Provide dipping sauce such as the traditional blue cheese or Ranch dressing.
- A side of celery sticks may also be a nice compliment.
